Sailability

Milton Keynes Sailability has been established for over 20 years, its aims are to enable persons with differing forms of disability to actively participate in the sport of sailing. Members and novices of all ages are able to go out with qualified instructors, or experienced sailors, until they are confident and competent in handling a dinghy.
When they can sail competently, members can sail during most MK Sailing Club sessions as long as they can arrange for help in rigging, launching and recovery. Members, if they wish, can sail just socially or they can take a sailing course to gain nationally recognized sailing qualifications and sail competitively at national regattas.
The group is part of MK sailing Club and uses the facilities at Caldecotte Lake (South) in Milton Keynes. Organized Sailability sessions on the programme are covered by full rescue facilities and life jackets or buoyancy aids are provided. A hoist is available to enable members to gain access to the boats if needed. We have six specially adapted dinghies; four Challengers, a single-seated Access Dinghy and a two-seated Access Dinghy.
